The prize award ceremony took place at Akwa Palace hote,l Douala on October 12th 2024. The event started at 12:10pm with an opening prayer followed by the national anthem. The project coordinator expressed his gratitude to all who came for the event and also applauded the top 5 schools for their hardwork, dedication and resilience to the competition thus far. He also appreciated all the partners and sponsors who have accompanied us thus far and wish they could continue with their support in the next edition. He concluded by introducing his team members who have put in so much work and encouraged them not to relent in their efforts.
Next was the introduction of the top 5 schools of the 2nd edition of the competition and screening of their respective projects. Administrators of the various schools expressed their gratitude to the entire Agripreneur team for coming up with such a beautiful initiative because it has made their students more engaged in agriculture. They were also grateful for the exposure and visibility the competition has given their different schools.
Furthermore, the representatives from Ric microfinance and ACCESS bank encouraged the students on the importance savings and entrepreneurship. To end their speeches special student packages were made at the disposal of students to open student accounts and start saving which is going to help them in the future. We also had motivational messages from some of the partners such as Yakili who was represented by the marketing director. Yakili which is an online educational digital platform is going to greatly assist the students and also teachers in their studies and lectures as well. Also present was the country director of the International human rights commission – Relief Fund Trust (IHRC-RFT) Cameroon who also spoke on the rights of the students and also urged them to also know their responsibilities as patriotic citizens.
Finally, we had the presentation of gifts to the top 5 schools and which was sponsored by Yakili and Access bank. The winner of the 2nd edition was GOOD SHEPHERD ACADEMY AGYATI-BAFUT who went home with a cash prize of 1,000,000 FCFA (ONE MILLION FRANC ) ,2nd position PRESBYTERIAN SECONDARY SCHOOL (P.S.S) MANKON who went home with 600,000 FCFA (SIX HUBDRED THOUSAND) 3rd position LIGHT WORD ANGLO-SAXON INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL YAOUNDÉ who went home with 300,00 FCFA (THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND) , 4th position REGINA PARCISS COLLEGE (REPACOL) MUTENGENE who won a cash prize of 100,00 FCFA( 0NE HUNDRED THOUSAND) and finally in the 5th position we had St THERESE INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE BUEA who had a cash prize of 50,000FCFA (FIFTY THOUSAND) .
The event came to a close with the official launch of the 3rd edition and registration forms were made available for schools to register. The project coordinator appreciated all for making it to the event. He appreciated the schools for taking part in the second edition and encouraged those who didn’t make it to the top finalist not to relent in their efforts but rather put in more effort in the 3rd edition. He also called on other schools to seize this opportunity and get their students enrolled because knowledge is not only gotten within the confines of a classroom. Its an opportunity for the students to think out of the box and network with students from schools. It was on that note we drew the curtains for the second.
